If you’ve been paying any attention to the internet the past decade, it should come as no surprise to you that a home video of a kitten has become a viral hit after being edited and reuploaded to YouTube, as seen above. In the short clip, the starring feline, a Ragdoll named Milk, seemingly enters a cosmic, trancelike state while her teeth are brushed. This kind of mind blow can also be achieved by some songs — the kind that get under your skin and stay there for a while. Here are some recently released tracks we’ve been spinning on KX FM 104.7 that might do just that:
Father John Misty, “True Affection”
Joshua “Father John Misty” Tillman released his sophomore LP, I Love You, Honeybear, last month to high praise.
The former frontman of Canadian rock band Our Mercury is taking things in a softer direction with a fresh Alternative-R&B sound on his debut solo effort, Dirty Laundry.Ben Stevenson, “Still”
Modest Mouse, “The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box“
The Washington natives’ first album in eight long years, Strangers To Ourselves, is due out March 17. Check out this blog post for more on this song’s interesting premiere.
Florence + The Machine, “What Kind of Man”
The highly-anticipated third album, How Big How Blue How Beautiful, doesn’t arrive until June 1, but this rousing lead single and dramatic title track will tide us over in the meantime.
Until The Ribbon Breaks, “Persia”
The British trio brought out their electro-infused debut album, A Lesson Unlearnt, in January and will be playing at April’s Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio.
