MEET THE ARTISTS
ELIZABETH TURK
Elizabeth Turk is a California-born artist whose work spans sculpture, photography and large-scale community installations.
Known internationally for her intricate marble sculptures, Turk has spent decades exploring the relationship between the natural world, mathematics, science and the human experience.
Her work has been exhibited at museums and institutions throughout the United States and internationally. She received a MacArthur Fellowship and a Smithsonian Artist Research Fellowship, among other honors.
For Laguna, her work is particularly familiar.
In 2018, Turk’s Shoreline Project brought 1,000 participants to Main Beach in a large-scale, illuminated community art experience created in partnership with the Laguna Art Museum and the City of Laguna Beach.
Turk’s practice asks what can happen when art stops being something we simply look at and becomes something we experience together.

JORG DUBIN
Painter. Sculptor. Ceramist. Production designer. Mentor.
Jorg Dubin has been making art in Laguna Beach for more than five decades.
His work moves across painting, sculpture, ceramics, public art and film production design, often confronting social, political and environmental questions.
Dubin arrived in Laguna in 1976 and has spent much of the decades since pushing against comfortable definitions of what art — and an artist’s role in a community — can be.
He also hosts KXFM’s Art Matters, a radio show and podcast dedicated to conversations with artists, curators and creative voices exploring the impact of art in our community and beyond.
This conversation grows directly out of that work.
CASEY PARLETTE
Casey Parlette creates sculpture in wood, metal and stone, drawing heavily from the natural world.
A naturalist at heart, Parlette’s background is as unusual as the creatures he creates. His experience includes commercial diving, ocean lifeguarding, underwater cinematography and exploration.
Those experiences have become part of his artistic vocabulary.
Fish, birds, marine life and other forms from the natural world emerge from carved wood, forged metal and stone.
Parlette is based in Laguna Beach, where he works full-time as an artist.
His work has become part of Laguna’s public art landscape, including Epicenter, a temporary public sculpture installed outside Laguna Beach City Hall.
In 2024, Parlette was named Artist of the Year by the Laguna Beach Arts Alliance.
