    About the Host

Few people embody the Laguna lifestyle and ethos like native son Hans Hagen. Hans grew up immersed in both ocean sports and the arts, becoming a professional surfer, musicologist and eventually a philanthropist. Hans traveled the world as a surfing professional for 25 years, while simultaneously deepening his connection to music. His love of music started in elementary school here in Laguna Beach, moved by MTV he started his first middle school band with pal Taylor Hawkins, Hans worked his way through the business, wearing multiple hats in management, production, promotion, eventually becoming a Musical Supervisor, for a series of iconic surf films. He likens music to surfing, he believes there to be an intrinsic connection of creativity that lives and dies in the moment. And for the past dozen years he's been on a mission to give back as the Executive Director of the Mauli Ola Foundation, which helps people with Cystic Fibrosis experience the thrill of surfing.
