Every week on the KX FM 104.7 Morning show with Tyler Russell, international TV and radio personality Lynda Halligan stops by the KX FM 104.7 Pearl Street studio for a Top 5 countdown.
After asking around and trying most of the Bloody Marys around town, from the too-watery to the over-garnished, this week’s segment featured Lynda’s personal favorites in Laguna Beach:
5) The Deck (Pacific Edge Hotel, 627 Sleepy Hollow Ln)
4) Nick’s (440 S Coast Hwy)
Tito’s vodka, house recipe mix and a fried, blue cheese-stuffed olive!
BLT Bloody Mary with Smirnoff vodka, house recipe mix, heirloom tomato & braised bacon romaine spear
2) Sapphire (1200 S Coast Hwy #101)
Reyka vodka, house recipe mix, jamón serrano (dry cured Spanish ham), blue cheese olive
1) Mare Culinary Lounge (696 S Coast Hwy)
Mare bartender Luigi knows how to make the meanest Mary in Laguna. In the summertime, his creation is served in a canary melon (tangier than honeydew) with meatball, shrimp, infused with Tito’s vodka, calabrian pepper, fresh lemon & lime, orange juice, black lava sea salt, sriracha, olive juice, A1, Worcestershire sauce, tapatillo, tomato juice, black pepper. According to Luigi, the secret is to pour the vodka last. Mare also features a make-your-own Bloody Mary bar in the summer, but once you try Luigi’s masterpiece you might just want to leave it to the master.
Honorable mention: The Cliff, Big Fish Tavern, Hennesy’s Tavern, Lumberyard
