If you’ve ever walked through Heisler Park, you’ve If you’ve ever walked through Heisler Park, you’ve probably seen this piece. But you might not know the story behind it. At Monument Point in Heisler Park stands Semper Memento — Latin for Always Remember — Laguna Beach artist Jorg Dubin’s memorial incorporating two steel beams from the World Trade Center. We recently met Jorg at the piece to hear the story behind its creation, the meaning built into its design, and what it was like to transform objects connected to such a historic moment into a work of public art.
